NEWS: Love Parade release new single

Love Parade


Working with an enviable team on their debut record–including producer Robert F. Cranny (Sarah Blasko), Jim Moginie (Midnight Oil) and Jay Whalley (Frenzal Rhomb) among others, Love Parade's new single –'Surfin’ NSW' is a taste from the forthcoming album King Me. It features harmonies, girly vocals, and Jim Moginie of Midnight Oil/ The Break on surf guitar – which is who you get to do surf guitar in Australia, should you need it. It follows their May single 'Like Lovers Do', which received lashings of airplay across Triple J and community radio, and the EP A Strawberry Situation which was released through seminal label Half A Cow to rave reviews (and one bad one) in late 2010.

 
NEWS: Gangnam Style is heading down under

The recent online obsession over PSY’s video for Gangnam Style has turned the Korean artist into a global phenomenon. Gangnam Style has received over 342 million YouTube views and will see the man himself horse skip down to Australia for a promotional tour. He arrives on the 15th October. The song is also #1 on the ARIA singles chart and #1 in 33 countries.

Many feared that the decision to showcase fewer films would dampen the festival's impact on the world stage and result in a small range of so-so films. This fortunately was not the case, every film I viewed deserved a place on the Lido.

2012 has proved to be a milestone year for Best Coast, releasing their critically acclaimed sophomore album The Only Place. With the help of producer Jon Brion (Kanye West, Fiona Apple) the band bid farewell to the lo-fi haze that typified earlier releases, adopting a cleaner and more sophisticated approach. This approach signified a step forward for Best Coast, one that has carved out a fresh, mature identity for the Californian quartet.
